Louisville Meteo Police Department Special Operations Division Coin

On January 6, 2003, the Jefferson County Police Department and the Louisville Division of Police merged to become the Louisville Metro Police Department. This began a long journey to combine the two departments into one. A strategic plan was developed to determine what needed to be combined, how it needed to be combined and where everyone would fit into the big picture. Many long days were ahead for the men and women working to pull this all together. The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) firmly subscribes to the prioritization of equity in its operations, and in the deliverance of its budget. The LMPD seeks to develop and implement measurables that will ensure accountability by the department in ensuring racial equity, and remains committed to utilizing racial equity tools in all areas of policing in keeping the community safe.
